Samsung has launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in Brooklyn, New York, in July 2025. This new model is the thinnest and lightest in the Galaxy Z Fold series, marking a significant step forward in foldable phone design.
The Galaxy Z Fold weighs just 215 grams. When unfolded, it measures 4.2 millimeters thick, and when folded, it is 8.9 millimeters thick. This makes it slimmer and lighter than its predecessor and even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung has designed it to feel more like a traditional smartphone in hand, making it easier to carry and use on the go.
The phone features a larger 8-inch main foldable display, offering an immersive experience for multitasking and media consumption. When folded, users get a 6.5 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x cover display with a new 21:9 aspect ratio, which is wider for easier trying and browsing. The wider cover enhances usability without requiring the device to be unfolded.
Samsung has integrated advanced AI features into the Galaxy Z Fold. It turns on One UI 8 based on Android 16, which includes multimodal AI that understands inputs from typing, voice and visual cues.
Features like Gemini Live allow users to interact with AI without switching apps, while Circle to Search offers instant gaming tips by selecting objects on the screen. The AL also supports multitasking with AI generated Content and editing tools to boost productivity.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 also boasts the series first 200 megapixel camera, delivering high-quality photos and videos. This camera upgrade is part of Samsung effort to blend powerful hardware with intelligent software for a premium smartphone experience.
Samsung’s president and head of the Device Experience Division, TM Roh, said the Galaxy Z Fold 7 “combines Galaxy AI with powerful hardware to deliver our most advanced smartphone experience yet.” He emphasized that the device offers a blend of power, portability and intelligence, setting a standard for foldables.
The device will be available in several colors, including Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black and an online-exclusive Mint option. Samsung has also introduced Samsung Care+ for this model, providing coverage for accidental damage and repairs. Buyers will receive six months of expanded access to Google AI Pro and 2TB of cloud storage through the New Galaxy Club program.
Preorders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 began on July 9, with sales starting on July 25, 2025. Pricing in India is expected to be between Rs 175,000 and Rs 179,000, reflecting a premium segment price for this cutting-edge foldable device.
Although the Samsung Galaxy Z fold 7 is a breakthrough foldable phone. It combines a sleek, ultrathin design with a large foldable display, powerful AI features, and a top-tier camera system.
